1. $43 Billion China-Alaska Energy Deal Looks Shaky
The contract which was reported last week is nothing more than an “agreement to explore”. There are many financial and logistical obstacles to building a natural gas pipeline in Alaska. For years, ExxonMobil was considering the project but backed out in 2016.
2. India’s only copper miner plans to nearly triple production at largest mine
The State-run company Hindustan Copper plans on investing $700M to create an underground mine beneath its current open-cast mine. They estimate it will increase the mine’s output by 2 million tonnes annually.
