WorkSafeBC defines a safeguard as a “solution or combination of solutions that eliminate or reduce the risk of exposure to hazardous moving parts or other harmful conditions”.

- Engineering controls (i.e. barrier guards)
- Awareness controls (i.e. warning devices such as lights or computer warnings)
- Administrative controls (i.e. train workers)
