I am a father of three beautiful children and I’m the Director of operations (CEO) for Advance Windows and Doors located in Timmins, Ontario.
I am the face of the business, as I am the lead estimator for all projects. I oversee all work proceedings and jobs, as well as schedule everything that comes through. Overtop of doing these things, I’m also in charge of ordering all special ordered material and balancing all budgets and intakes, and yes, I do physics; work as well with my crews. I install windows and doors, frame homes/garages, install seamless eavestrough and even cellulose blown insulation.
I have been in my current role here at Advance for 4 years now, and as stressful as it may get I love and thrive off of it. My days start early and end late, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Advance Windows and Doors has 3 companies within divisions of Advance Windows and Doors and they are as follows: Gilles Ayotte and Sons General Construction, Gilles Ayotte and Sons Blown Insulation & Seamless Eavestrough. So as you can imagine, it never ends for me overseeing all these divisions.
The reason I chose to get in this field is pretty simple: from a young age, my entire family were involved or working in the construction and trades fields, so I was moulded from a very young age to be versatile in numerous construction fields.
My grandfather had his own business in which he built homes, and me and various family members would work summers for Pappa and his crews. From that point there, there was no looking back.
I went to school and achieved my diploma and certificates in the field of Journeyman Red Seal Glazier. This field allows me to build and assist in designs of store fronts with structural steel and aluminum finished with glass, in addition to residential window sales, service, and installations.
I have also done introductory course to Business Administration (BA) to help with my ability to run a successful business, and was successful in attaining that diploma as well.
I am a huge sports fan and in my spare time, I’m always in the arenas for hockey and at the fields for baseball and soccer for the kids. I coach Novice Hockey for my son’s team and assist in managing my daughter’s ringette hockey teams. I’m a huge believer in lead by example and working together to achieve some goals and sports gives me that opportunity to share a lot of time with my kids and getting them active and learning to be team players.
You can imagine for yourself, after reading this, that I am pulled in 20 different ways at once and somehow I love it and wouldn’t change a thing about it. If anyone has any questions in regards to any of this, please feel free to contact me via Hard Hat Hunter.
