Following the announcement that Ontario will proceed with the construction of year-round access to the Ring of Fire mining site, Noront Resources Ltd. states that the first batch of minerals will be sent to be processed in Sudbury, reports CBC News.
Initially, Sudbury was one of four northern cities selected to process materials from the chromite-rich deposit. In the end, Noront states that Sudbury was chosen over Timmins, Thunder Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie due to its pre-existing smelting capacities.
