Anaconda Mining has received approval to store tailings from another site in its Pine Cove pit.
The Pine Cove pit is anticipated to close in late spring 2019. The Canadian mining company will use the open-pit as a location to store tailings from its gold mine, Golboro.
Its expected capacity is up to 7 million times with an extended life span of 15 years, according to Mining.com.
