Car manufacturers Nissan and parent company, Renault, have launched a new joint venture with partner Dongeng Motor to build electric cars in China.
Under the new venture, eGT New Energy Automotive Co, the manufacturers will develop a zero-emission mini-SUV, production of which is slated for 2019, according to this article by Reuters.
In a statement made by the alliance’s Chairman, the venture confirms the parties’ “commitment to develop competitive electric vehicles for the Chinese market.”
eGT New Energy Automotive Co will be jointly owned by the parties; 50% will be owned by Dongfeng, and 25% each to Nissan and Renault.
