Construction is coming to a close on the Mersey Gateway Bridge in Cheshire, England. Construction Enquirer reports that following an assessment of the remaining work, contractors Kier, Samsung, and FCC have set the completion date, with the bridge set to open this fall.
“All along we said we’d be opening in autumn 2017 and it is great to be able to keep that promise,” said Hugh O’Connor, General Manager of Merseylink.
Construction of the 6-lane toll water-crossing began in May 2014 as a means to relieve congestion at the Silver Jubilee Bridge.
