Deaths and injuries from ATV’s at work have been on the rise as they become more readily available, deaths were as low as 11 in 1992, and have rose to an average of 51. To stay safe, when working with an ATV:
- Never exceed the manufacturer’s specified hauling, towing, or weight capacity
- Drive at speeds suitable for weather and terrain, and only operate ATVs on surfaces designed for ATVs
- Participate in hands-on training in the safe handling and operation of an ATV
- Always wear proper protective gear, including a helmet, boots, and gloves
