Canadian energy provider, FortisBC, has announced its intention to develop a community solar pilot power project.
The upfront project budget for the Ellison Community Solar Pilot Project is set for $1 million, and will be built in Kelowna, BC, according to Business in Vancouver.
Customers will be able to opt-in to the service to “rent” a single solar panel for a small annual fee, and will in turn receive back a credit for the energy produced from that particular solar panel.
