Working abroad can be an exciting opportunity to earn a great income and see the world. Here are our tips for working abroad safely:
Research Ahead of Time
Prior to travelling, spend some time and research the area and the culture in which you plan to work. This can include, but is not limited to:
- Your rights as an international worker
- Business ethics
- Language & language barriers
- Climate & weather
- Safety requirements for the project/area
- Living expenses
Get Your Paperwork in Order
It’s important to make sure that you have the proper documents to allow you to safely and legally travel to and work in a foreign country.
In addition to these documents, you should also have proof of employment, including either a work contract, or a statement of services from the employers.
Have an Emergency Plan
It’s always better to plan ahead, especially when it comes to emergency situations. Ensure that you have international health coverage and a reserve of easily accessible emergency funds.
