Tractors are an excellent addition to any farm’s fleet. Although they can vary in size and function, basic tractor safety is universal.
Here are Hard Hat Hunter’s Tractor Safety Tips:
Be Smart
Use the tractor’s built-in safety features, such as the ROPS (Rollover Protective Structure) and seatbelts. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t going far, if you’ve done the same route multiple times: the safety features can help save you in the event of an accident.
Be Familiar
Know the terrain in which you are working (hidden ditches, stumps, and other hazards should be identified prior to using the equipment).
Be Qualified
Be sure that only qualified individuals operate the tractor. Ensure that all operators have read the operator’s manual and understand how to safely operate the tractor. DO NOT ALLOW ANY RIDERS ON THE TRACTOR EXCEPT THE DRIVER.
Be Prepared
Wear proper clothing and use personal protective equipment. Take into consideration the conditions of the terrain, any insects, and any hazards.
