Dalton Houlder, a student that works for First North Enterprise (FNE) in North Bay, Ontario, was interviewed by Hard Hat Hunter to get his perspective of working in the trades.
Dalton Houlder, a summer student whom works at First North Enterprise (FNE), a local construction company in North Bay, Ontario, was recently interviewed, in order to gain his perspective on working in the trades.
Dalton stated that by working at FNE, he has learnt several useful techniques that may be of assistance later on when working on his own place in the future; “rather than getting someone else to come in and fix it, I’ll be able to do it myself.”
Dalton works alongside the FNE carpenters. One of his favorite aspects of the job are the hours (7am -4pm). Although work hours often vary by trade, Dalton enjoys having his evening open to do activities that he enjoys such as robotics. Thus, it came to no surprise when Dalton stated that his goal was to continue his studies in engineering.
Dalton’s experience with FNE will be relevant to his career whether or not he wishes to continue in the construction industry. Experience in any field is invaluable however, not only will it be of use in his future endeavors but it will also be of assistance when working on personal projects or helping out a friend. All in all, the trades are a great place for anyone of any age and is an invaluable skill to acquire.
Anthony Goulais is a student with Hard Hat Hunter. He is currently completing his secondary school education, and hopes to continue his education in business.
