Working at Heights
Handling heavy materials and working at heights can be a dangerous combination. When working at heights, be sure to:
- Have appropriate training to safely work at heights
- Thoroughly inspect fall protection equipment for flaws, defects, or damage prior to each use
- Follow fall protection safe work procedures
- Be aware of any hazards, including overhead powerlines

When working with metal, be sure to use appropriate PPE for the task at hand, including:
- Head protection
- Foot protection
- Hand protection
- Hearing protection
- Face protection
Manual Handling
- Use proper lifting techniques
- Bend at the knees
- Keep load close to your body
- Avoiding twisting your body
- Avoid slips, trips, and falls by practicing good housekeeping
- Avoid awkward postures and repetitive tasks
- Take frequent breaks
