Myth – Trades are only construction-related jobs
Incorrect! Trades fall into four sectors – construction, industrial, motive power and service which provides many options.
Traditional college and university training isn’t for everyone! Apprenticeship is a great option for those who want to specialize in something they are passionate about but want to start working right away. Not all trades are considered a Compulsory Trade which requires one to be registered as an apprentice, journeyperson candidate or certification as a journeyman. There are 23 skilled trades that are “compulsory”.
All other trades are considered “voluntary” which means that certification and College memberships are not legally required the practice the trade.
