Rideshare giant Uber announced yesterday that by 2020 all drivers will be required to use hybrid or electric cars by 2020.
The announcement comes as part of Uber’s “clean air” fund as an effort to combat air pollution levels in the city generated from fossil-fuelled vehicles.
According to an article published by The Guardian, approximately 50% of the city’s Uber drivers currently use electrified vehicles. The Financial Times reports that at minimum, 40,000 cars will be affected by the changes in regulations to Uber’s services.
