Who?
What?
I work for Rowan Drilling as a Safety Officer (HSE Technician) on board the Rowan Bob Keller, a Tarzan class high specification jack up drilling rig.
How Long?
I have been with Rowan almost 4 years. Previous to that, I was in the US Air Force, where I served 26 distinguished years as an electronics technician/enlisted aircrew member/airborne maintenance technician.
Where?
My rig is currently stationed in the Persian Gulf off the coast of Saudi Arabia.
Why?
I chose this career because it seemed interesting and challenging at the same time. The job is whatever you make of it. If a person is the type that has to be told what to do all the time by their boss, then the job is not for them. But if you are a self-starter that likes to be busy, where each day is something different than the last one, then this is a great job because there are always things that need to be done from a safety perspective.
For Fun?
For fun I like to tinker with electronic projects, play guitar, anything with computers, from working on to using (yet I am not a geek, a techie, or a gamer), travelling, muscle cars and sports cars, sport shooting, camping, cooking, reading, working out
