Volvo’s electric, autonomous vehicle, Vera, will form part of an integrated solution to transport goods from a logistics center to a port terminal in Gothenburg, Sweden. This assignment is a result of a collaboration between Volvo Trucks and DFDX, a ferry and logistics company. Volvo’s trucks will move containers from the DFDS logistics center in Gothenburg to an APM container terminal according to needed capacity. According to Volvo, the goal is to implement a connected system consisting of several Vera vehicles monitored by a control tower. The purpose is to enable a constant flow of responsive demands on greater efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability.
