Prove Yourself
Take the opportunity to prove yourself to your employer that you are a capable worker. Demonstrate your initiative and strong work ethic. Prove that you deserve to be a part of the team.
-
Take Extra Shifts
Taking extra shifts (or working overtime) not only demonstrates a desirable quality to employers, it also allows you to make some extra money (to stash away for off-season).
-
Budget Appropriately
Make sure that you plan for your time off. Going an extended period without an income can be difficult; plan ahead to ensure that you won’t suffer financial distress.
-
Gain Experience
Learn as much as you can. Try new tasks, volunteer for training. Make the most out of your seasonal employment (it only makes you more employable!).
-
Make Contacts
Network as much as you can in your position. I’m not saying to jump ship with the company you’re with (loyalty goes a long way), I’m simply saying that make your name and your skillset known.
-
Look for Opportunities
Look for opportunities within your company. Apply for full-time positions. Use your off-time to earn qualifications to be more employable.
-
Enjoy Your Time Off
Working seasonal jobs can be tough on the body and mind. Make sure to rest and recharge before the start of the next season!
