Having a hard time getting rid of that chill when working outdoors this winter? Here are our tips to staying warm on site:
Stay warm on site by choosing to wear layers. (Click here to find out how layering works and some suggestions on what to choose for your layers).
Getting wet on site can make icy cold winds seem even colder. Stay dry by choosing water resistant or proof outer layers.
Cover Your Head
Up to 10% of your body head escapes through your head! Stay warm by choosing a warm tuque that covers your head and ears.
Protect Your Extremities
Keep fingers and toes warm (and frostbite free) by wearing waterproof gloves and boots.
Consider High Tech
There are many high tech battery-operated options for outerwear to keep you warm while working outdoors, including heated jackets and boot insoles.
Eating right can help keep you warm! For instance, choosing to eat whole grains and complex carbs require more energy to break down, which can increase body heat. Try potatoes or lentils!
Take Warm Up Breaks
If it’s really cold out, take breaks inside heated facilities or vehicles to get a break from the cold.
